Online Therapy With Optum Insurance
Trauma-Informed Online Therapy With Optum Behavioral Health Benefits
Healing Should Be Accessible.
Using your Optum mental health plan can make it easier to begin therapy without the added stress of worrying about the cost.
Jennifer L. Hillier, M.A., LPC-S, provides secure online therapy for adults in Texas, Colorado, Florida, and Vermont. Whether I am in-network depends on your specific plan and the state where you attend sessions.
If you're looking for a therapist who understands unresolved childhood trauma, Complex PTSD, emotional abuse, narcissistic abuse recovery, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or trauma bonding, you're in the right place.
Does My Plan Use Optum Behavioral Health?
Optum Behavioral Health may manage mental health benefits for plans with another name on the insurance card. These can include UnitedHealthcare, UMR, Surest, Oxford, All Savers, and GEHA. Seeing one of these names does not, by itself, mean your specific plan covers sessions with me.
To check, call the behavioral health or Member Services number on your card. Ask whether Jennifer L. Hillier, M.A., LPC-S is in-network for online individual therapy under your exact plan, and confirm coverage in the state where you will be physically located during sessions.
Helping You Understand the Story Behind Your Survival.
I believe people make sense once we understand the story behind their survival.
Many people begin therapy because they're struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or feeling stuck in patterns they don't fully understand. Often, these aren't the root problem—they're symptoms of adaptive survival responses your nervous system learned long ago.
Healing begins by understanding those patterns with compassion rather than judgment. Together, we'll explore the story behind your survival, heal unresolved trauma, and help you reconnect with your authentic self.
My Approach
The experiences that bring you to therapy deserve more than a quick label or a standard set of exercises. I want to understand what you have been carrying, how you learned to cope, and what you want life to feel like now.
We’ll begin with what is happening today. Perhaps you feel constantly on alert, struggle to trust yourself, or keep ending up in relationships where your needs disappear. Together, we’ll look at the experiences and beliefs behind those patterns. We can build ways to feel steadier in the present while deciding whether and when you’re ready to process painful memories.
I tailor our work to your goals. Depending on what supports you, I may draw on:
You don’t have to fit yourself into any one approach. We’ll focus on what helps you understand yourself, make changes that matter to you, and build trust in your ability to care for yourself beyond therapy.
What Can Therapy Help With?
Optum mental health plans often provide mental health benefits that may help cover therapy for concerns such as:
Using Your Optum Behavioral Health Benefits
Your insurance card may say UnitedHealthcare, UMR, Surest, Oxford, All Savers, GEHA, or another plan name. The name on the card alone does not confirm that your therapy sessions with me are covered.
Before your first appointment, call the behavioral health or Member Services number on your card. Give them my name, Jennifer L. Hillier, M.A., LPC-S, and ask:
Does my plan use the Optum Behavioral Health network for outpatient therapy?
Is Jennifer L. Hillier in-network under my specific plan?
Does my plan cover individual therapy by video while I am physically located in the state where I will attend?
What will I pay per session, including any copay, coinsurance, or deductible?
Do I need a referral or prior authorization? Are there any session limits?
You can then book through my secure client portal. Your insurer can explain your current benefits; your coverage and payment are determined by your plan's terms.
I do not accept EAP sessions administered through Optum. I may accept EAP sessions through Revive/BHS when your eligibility and authorization are confirmed. If your plan includes both EAP and regular mental health benefits, please check which benefit applies before booking.
