Questions About Starting Online Therapy With Jennifer L. Hillier, M.A., LPC-S
Answers About Insurance, Payment, Scheduling, and What to Expect When Starting Counseling
-
I am in-network with several insurance plans, including Ambetter, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna / Evernorth, Curative, Molina, Optum, and UnitedHealthcare.
Insurance participation and coverage can vary by state and by individual plan. Before scheduling, contact the Member Services number on the back of your insurance card to confirm that Jennifer L. Hillier, M.A., LPC-S, is in-network with your specific plan and that your benefits cover online therapy.
-
Possibly. If I am not in-network with your insurance plan, your plan may reimburse you for part of the cost of therapy through out-of-network benefits.
Contact the Member Services number on the back of your insurance card and ask whether your plan includes out-of-network coverage for outpatient mental health therapy provided through telehealth. Also ask about your deductible, reimbursement rate, and the process for submitting claims.
Out-of-network reimbursement is determined by your insurance company and is not guaranteed.
-
Yes. I accept Revive EAP, formerly known as BHS EAP.
EAP benefits typically cover a limited number of counseling sessions and may require authorization before therapy begins. Contact your EAP administrator to confirm your eligibility, the number of approved sessions, and whether an authorization or reference number is required.

You can view current availability and schedule your online counseling appointment through the secure Therapy Portal.
All counseling appointments are conducted online. After scheduling, you will receive access to the forms that must be completed before your first session.
-
Online therapy—also called telehealth, teletherapy, or virtual counseling—allows us to meet through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform while you are physically located in Texas, Colorado, Florida, or Vermont.
You will need a reliable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone, and a private place where you feel comfortable talking. You receive the same personalized attention and trauma-informed care without traveling to an office.
-
Before your first appointment, you will complete your intake forms through the secure client portal. During our initial session, we will talk about what is bringing you to therapy, what you are experiencing now, and what you hope will change.
You do not need to explain your entire life perfectly or share everything at once. We will move at a pace that feels manageable while beginning to understand the experiences, relationships, and survival patterns that may be affecting your life today.
Together, we will develop a personalized treatment plan based on your needs and goals. Future sessions may include processing difficult experiences, exploring patterns, building practical skills, and using therapeutic approaches that fit the work we are doing together.
-
This practice may not be appropriate for individuals seeking counseling primarily for:
Testimony in a child custody or divorce proceeding
Treatment connected to an active Child Protective Services case
An FMLA certification or letter
An evaluation or documentation for Supplemental Security Income or disability benefits
I do not accept new clients for the primary purpose of providing legal testimony, forensic evaluation, custody recommendations, or administrative documentation. If a legal or documentation request arises after therapy has begun, please discuss it with me. Completing the request may be outside my role and cannot be guaranteed.
-
Please provide at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Late cancellations and missed appointments may be charged the full session fee because that time was reserved specifically for you and usually cannot be offered to another client on short notice.
I understand that emergencies and unexpected situations happen. If you cannot attend, contact me as soon as possible. Exceptions may be considered individually but are not guaranteed.
Cancellation and missed-appointment fees are not covered by insurance.
-
If you prepaid for a session and cancel at least 48 hours before the appointment, the session fee will be fully refunded. Please allow up to seven business days for the refund to be processed and returned to your original payment method.
Late cancellations and missed appointments are generally not eligible for a refund. In a documented emergency, I may offer the option to reschedule at my discretion. Exceptions are considered individually and are not guaranteed.
If documentation is needed, contact me for instructions on submitting it securely. Please do not send private medical information through the website contact form.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT WHEN STARTING THERAPY?
PERSONALIZED
Therapy begins with understanding you—not trying to fit you into a predetermined approach. Our initial sessions will focus on what is happening in your life now, the experiences that shaped you, and the changes you hope to make. Together, we will create a treatment plan that reflects your individual needs and goals.
FOCUSED
Therapy should lead to more than insight. We will use what we learn about your story to work toward meaningful change—whether that means strengthening boundaries, responding differently to triggers, quieting the Inner Critic, changing relationship patterns, or learning to trust yourself again. Your goals will guide our direction, while the work remains flexible enough to respond to what you need.
INTEGRATIVE
Your healing will not be limited to one therapy model. I thoughtfully integrate approaches that help us understand the story behind your survival, process experiences that still affect your present, build practical skills, and reconnect with who you are beyond the patterns you learned to survive. We will adjust our approach as your needs and healing evolve.
